Our Appliqued pumpkin towels are each hand dyed to have a wonderful aged appeal .. with hand dyed linen pumpkins and stems a sweet jute tie and a charming twill banner with a fall word

These are each One of a Kind Towels ..  No 2 alike. 

Our Flour sack towels are generous in size 29 x 30 inches when open. Some have double ruffles and others single ruffles with lace trim .. They Are oh So soft and are just the right touch for your farmhouse or country chic kitchen !

Our pumpkins are all handmade One Of  a Kinds made here at the farmhouse ! 

Each pumpkin is stuffed with pine sawdust making them wonderfully solid .. Yet so soft and every year you just give em' a hug and a squeeze and they plump back up .. that is if they get squished when stored. .. They all have turned wood spindles stems and a charming twill banner with a fall Word or saying ..

One of a Kind Patriotic Buntings from my heart and my hands ~ Sweet Magnolias Farm Originals

I don't know about You all but I love me some Red, White and Blue ..!!! 

For as many years back as I can remember 4th of July is one of my favorite times of the year .. I have no idea why that is nothing special happened to me personally that made me love it .. beyond loving what it represents.

Maybe it's because my Birthday is just a few days shy of it ? 

Or

Maybe I just love the vibrant colors and the joy they bring to my heart. 

I can remember in the 1990's as a young 20 something young woman .. wanting flag writing pens, a flag jacket, and anything Ralph Lauren bedding that was red white and blue floral. In fact I splurged and bought the RL cottage rose and flag sheets that he put out and still have them to this day .. and love them just as much as when I first got them. 

I guess it's just my thing !

Last year a sweet gal that's a client through my Etsy shop and had purchased some of my upcycled shirts emailed me a little tutorial she had found on making patriotic buntings. Well the tutorial wasn't bad but it didn't create a very permanent bunting.. So I set out to create on for this gal but wanted it to be more traditional but unique in that they are made from vintage and upcycled materials and if you have followed what I love to make over the years you'll know I love creating One of  kind pieces .. so I wanted each one to be a OOAK .. so each person that purchases one and hangs knows that theirs is the only one like it .. I guess to me it just makes the piece a little bit more special .

  

Well this year started out with a bang (Hah no pun intended but I like it) ... and I have been feverishly at my sewing table designing and sewing together buntings for the season.

Here are just a few of them that have either already found homes

 These are a true work of my heart and hands .. 

My Heart: a lot of love goes into making each one and getting every detail

just right. From fabrics the not only compliment one another but really make the piece shine, to loving how it all comes together in the end.

and 

My Hands: well I love the process of piecing it all together, I love the feeling of the fabrics and I love the heavy weight that makes if feel so sturdy when it's complete.

 Each bunting from start to finish takes about 5 to 6 hours depending on how many layers I put together how many details go into it and that big red check double ruffle at the bottom .. well that's the longest part of the process believe it or not. That's a "LOT" of yardage .. approx 14 running yards go into making that long ruffle .. to say that part is time consuming is an understatement.

 One of my favorite parts of making these buntings is the Blue Canton. Deciding what remnant of an old shirt, dress, or linen will make up the piece and make it stand out. This one above ... is made from shirt sleeves.. I even left the buttons on and the cuffs .. this was a bit of piecing work and figuring out how to get it all to lay just right so it looked right .. in the end it took some extra time but I really was happy with the outcome...

 And those Red Rosettes .. those are all handmade .. and they can get a little tricky making each one and having it lay right .. attaching it is also another step I'll admit is what i least like doing .. but that red rosette is like the icing on a cake .. it's just not cake without some good buttercream frosting and it's just not a finished bunting without the beautiful red rosette .. at least in my opinion.

Oh and did I mention these are wonderfully large .. they are approx 58" wide x 34" L

Perfect for the porch. hung from the mantle in your home since we don't use the fireplace during the summer. They look wonderful over a bed .. or are stunning on the bed or at the foot of the bed.

What's new at Spring Creek, Gone Antiquing, and Allergies on the attack...

It's been a busy week for me how about Y'all ?

First part of the week was spent doing a complete revamp to my shop space at Spring Creek Antiques. Abbey and I added all sorts of new vintage items to my space including some new furniture pieces that are for sale. This weekend we hit up a fun antique sale and I came home with some great finds which I can't wait to get into my shops and in my Etsy shop as well... the down side of the week was the tree pollen got to me again and literally within 1 hour of being out at the antique sale I was sneezing 5 and 6 times in a row over and over then the watery eyes, the sinus issues and a really strange sore throat that still has it's hold on me tonight. I broke down last night and took some Benadryl to go to bed and it did help... today is much better than it normally is when I just ride it out for a few weeks....

So on to sharing my shop space revamp ..

I took this space over from a friend who just did a beautiful job picking products and styling it. And although I would love to say I could make it look like she did .. we all have our own touch and way we see things styled so it will always be different from the beautiful way she styled it. 

When I took it over I bought most of the permanent (Not for sale) furniture items she had in order to make it an easy switch for me. Since taking it over in February.. I decided the last few weeks that I would love to give it a whole new look and I would actually like having a few pieces of furniture that were different and for sale to be part of the space .. 

So this week Abbey and I headed in and added the cute vintage red paint table .. the adorable white cupboard, and all the little tables benches, shelf and our cute lil' ol' dress form "Mabel" all gussied up in her Dress and Apron from the 1940s ..

I offer mainly antique and vintage items with a few new farmy items tucked in. I am generally an all vintage girl at heart .. but I don't mind a few new things if they have the right look, style and are a good quality item. Antique, Vintage and the right new pieces can make a beautiful marriage. So rather you love vintage or new farmy pieces or both you can find a sweet variety in my shop space to choose from...

This little red and white truck is just one of many new but vintage pieces that made it to the shop this week as my heart tugged to keep it. It's a hydraulic truck so the dump back on it raises up .. I could just see it at Christmas with a load of bottle brush trees tied with jute laid in the back of it and a tiny wood sign hanging from the side .. something like "Farm Fresh Trees U- Cut Em"  Right now I have some really cute farm style absorbent stone coasters that are packaged in sets of 4 tucked in .. perfect for these warm summer days when your sweet tea or ice cold coca-cola starts sweating from the humidity and you don't want rings on your table .. and you want something cute to set them on  ..

And if you like some one of a kind pieces .. well the fun red birdhouse is just that a OOAK that Abbey made.. a cute one holer that simply nails or screws to the wall, post or fence .. and has some cute little architectural finds and wood trims she added to gussy it up.  Just below it .. is an authentic piece of folk art .. a handmade rooster and chick sitting on a fence post... what a darling piece for the mantle ..

 

Who out there loves old advertising tins ? My hand is raised in the air and I'm jumping up and down !!!

From Marshmallows. Crackers. and Coffee tins and more.. there's some charming tins awaiting a new home sweet home.

I seriously think I could have shelves full of these old tins or stacks on benches .. I love early advertising pieces that are full of color, great graphic designs and cute fonts...

And of course it's Spring well for some of us .. seems old man winter is trying to hold on with clenched fists this year for some of you .. but for those of us who are now hitting temps in the 80's with lots of rain it's the perfect time to be planting and adding some charm to your farm by sprucing it up with some pops of color. Flowers, Gardening tools, sweet signs and more ...

"Just sayin'"

Fall is in the air .. at Sweet Magnolias Farm

Well it took a week ... well kind of a week we had a few detours along the way .. but we revamped our 1st shop space this last week .

New paint.. a cute new rafter /attic style roof on the right side of the shop .. all new lighting .. lots of new vintage goods and some Fall home goods... 

We started at the 1st of the month with our new shop space just across the aisle and finished this week up with our 1st shop space .. it's been quite a lot of work but in the end it all looks so pretty and we hope all who come and shop enjoy the work of our hands...

Saturday Morning Finds at the Springfield Garage Sale

Sometimes a gal just needs to cut loose and have a little fun ..and well that's just what Abbey and I did today .. 

I've been working so hard lately sewing our new Farm Girl Fancies Upcycled Flannels and filling custom order for other items that beyond heading to the local thrift for some clothing finds it's been all work and no play and I hear that can make you a dull person .. LOL ! 

Last year Abbey and I went to our local indoor garage sale which is held at the fair grounds .. and needless to say we had a lot of fun and came home with some fun finds .. So when the ad for it rolled through on my FB page in December I was so excited.. truth be known I had forgot all about it till I saw that ad. Well since then I was counting the days and today finally arrived

We were in line early .. and it's a good thing we were cause I couldn't even see the end of the line I think it was miles long .. 

At the garage sale its varied from people selling household items, new clothing, blankets, signs, and a mix of old and new junk .. just whatever you've got to sell you throw it out on some tables or display it nice and pretty ... 

of Course Abbey and I are the antique,vintage and rustic lovin' gals so our eagle eyes are on the lookout for some scrumptious vintagey goodness ..

Well this years sale didn't dissapoint at all  we shopped for about 2-1/2 hours  then went and had lunch and then headed back for a few of the larger pieces we needed to pick up after emptying the car, laying down the seats and rearranging everything and literally we were left with not an inch to spare .. we know how to shop right LOL!

Well here are a few of the fun things we found today ..

Victorian Era net lace dress and vintage petticoats and old floral millinery hat..

Ooodles of vintage lace cause seriously I am obsessed with antique and vintage lace and was thrilled to find all this .. I collect old sewing notions so the wood bobbins of thread were a must and that big one at the top .. its like 4 or 5 inches tall .. I LOVE IT !  and of course I'm swooning over the vintage cloth tape measure.. yep I collect em .. that is old tape measures .. being a seamstress that's probably a no brainer .. but I love them and started collection about oh 10 yrs or so back and filling up an antique glass pickle jar with them ..

On the more rustic side of things are these old cow bells .. with their leather straps still attached .. I love them .. I just wanna pick em all up and ring em at the same time .. wow that would be loud I may need some ear plugs along with the rest the fam and old Flossie dog would be scared to death from the noise so as much as I would like to these cuties are going to be fairly silent except the odd clank or two when moving them .. I was thinking wouldn't these make cute tie back for curtains ... I sure think so.

well I guess I better EXIT for now .. we filled the car with many other fun vintage and antique pieces which will be headed to our shop at Camp Flea .. photographed for our Etsy shop and a few pieces we will keep... 

It was a nice day to be away from sewing .. to get out in warmth and sunshine of a beautiful day .. as another round of cold weather is headed our way next week ..
