Painting With Christie Repasy....

Well, Hello Y'all..

I can't believe over a week has passed since I blogged. Time just flys by when your having such a great time..

This week has been filled with lots of learning and busy hands ..

We started out Monday with our first class on our new sewing machine. It was pretty basic but very helpful in learning all the buttons and levers and how to clean the machine properly which is always a help because our sewing machine will surely need cleaning quite often..

And we ended our week on a fun note .,..

Abbey and I signed up for the beginners Rose Painting Class which we attended yesterday .. with 5 other lovely ladies....

Patty, Jill, Sylvia, Kathy, and Janice.
(not all pictd)

Christie Taught us some basic thinking on Painting .. and got us settled in at our tables with our beginning materials and within an hour we had brushes in hand and we're diving in. Not without a little reservation though. Although None of us will ever paint like Christie  as She has amassed a great many years of knowledge, and study and has an amazing gift for being able to see something and paint it to reflect her style which has become so iconic. But I think we all hoped to paint something that reflected the beauty of her paintings...

(Abbey Christie & Me (sara))

We all stopped for a Potluck Lunch break .. Everyone brought a little something to nibble on while we chatted and enjoyed each other's company ..

 (Sylvia & Christie)

Then we dove back in to painting after lunch as Christie walked us through more steps of painting the rose and helped us each individually with mixing our paints to achieve the color we wanted .. adding in the proper colors in the right places and the right lines in the right places so the Rose came out looking like a rose.

There Were 5 of us taking the beginning Rose Class ..and 2 other's that were back for their 2nd or 3rd Classes.. .. Patty worked on the Chicken and Hollyhocks Painting that Christie just recently released as part of her new Farmhouse Collection ... HERE
And
Jill Worked on a Rose Spray that can be seen in one of the images below.

The class was such a pleasure ..and so enjoyable !

We all have a little piece of Christies knowledge, and heart for the love of painting after taking her class.

We wrapped everything up in the late afternoon .. with everyone taking the beginning rose class finishing their roses.

Each Rose turned out so differently from the next.  Each of us see Shape and Color so differently and we each have a much different touch with the brush ..

But I think for Beginners we all did an excellent job !

Jill's rose spray which is more advanced is the second in from the right .. she did a beautiful job !

Christie gave the option of a light blue or green for the backgrounds .. being a farm girl .. I of course had to ask if I could do a brown background .. and she was so kind to allow Abbey and I to make our backgrounds in a beautiful taupey brown ..

Thanks so much Christie ... for a wonderful class .. and it was such a delight and pleasure to meet all the other gals that took the class with us !

I've so enjoyed taking classes and learning this week ..I can't wait to do it again !

Welcome to Thursday's Meet the Artisan here at Sweet Magnolias Farm

Welcome To our  "Meet the Artisan" Thursday....

Abbey and I have long discussed that we would love to feature artisans we know and artisans we have come to know here on our blog... and We have decided to start off with none other than a dear Friend from The Vintage Marketplace for this First Meet the Artisan Thursday.

Many of you may know Christie Repasy of "Chateau De Fleurs" ..Her stunning artwork and design of Vintage Style Rose Paintings have Romanced Homes through the ages. Her soft touch and color Palette have become her trademark through the years and have drawn followers and admirers of her art World Wide.

Abbey and I were blessed to come to know Christie through The Vintage Marketplace which she and her Sister -in - Law Rita Reade of Mammabellarte host every 3 months in Rainbow, CA. We had the sheer pleasure of being invited to their first market that took place 3 years ago at Christies Home and Gardens. From that day on we have grown to know her better and to not only admire her amazing talent but to see her stretch and grow and break even more boundaries in her painting which have thrilled our hearts.

Christie is known for Beautiful Painting such as this one below "Spring Bliss"<p>

A Stunning Cabbage Rose filled Urn .. With lovely little wrens .. the roses have such an appearance of being real that they dance off the canvas and tantalize your nose into believing there truly is a soft fragrance flowing from them .. and the tune of the wrens wrings in the distance ...

Some of her more Whimsical and delightful paintings such as " Dreaming of Summer" Make you want to jump in to the picture and ride away down a dirt path on an english countryside where the blooms are in full fragrance.. the wind tainted and your senses take you to another place .. a place of pure delight ...

Over the Years Christie has applied her skills of Painting to many different canvases if you will .. from Furniture... to Metal Containers ... Glass decanters ..and much more .. I believe she gave that up for a time but in the last few years has revived her Unique One of a Kind Offerings with her Stunning Roses....

This Antique Farm Style Footstool ... with it's authentic Burlap Upholstery.. has now been transformed by her stunning spray of Roses into a truly Rustic and Romantic Piece that fits the Farmhouse to the Shabby Home ...It's none other than a one of a kind piece .. a true antique made more rare by her touch of the brush ....

And If your looking for a little Romantic Farmhouse Style ..to add a special touch to an old jar .. tin Can.. wood Box .... Clipboard... or Carry All ... Her Farmhouse Labels are sure to bring a bit of that old farm Charm into your home.

Of course One of the things Abbey and I are most excited about is her new Line of...

"Country Farmhouse" Collections which she just Debuted at the September Vintage Marketplace and Online for the first time.

This is a slight departure from her Lovely Vintage Roses .. but a wonderful refreshing approach to the Farmhouse Style

There are so many wonderful options out there today for the Farmhouse Style when it comes to Home Decor and Furniture ..but to match those items with equally beautiful art to display on your walls is not such an easy find. And Now Christie has made that search a bit easier for those of us looking for a piece of farm style art with her new "Country Farmhouse" Collection.

Christie has mastered "My Little Chic-a-dee" above to pure farmhouse perfection. Her chick looks like you could hold your hand to the canvas and it would surely bounce right in ... Her beets fresh from the garden and her basket and watering can like they've been captured in their perfect time worn state.

Below you can meander into "Daisy Farm" ... you know the old farm that most of us dream about moving to ..with the authentic old red barn ..the windmill turning round in the distance .. the wind whispering through the large Oaks and the cow murmuring it's light moo as it grazes in pure peacefullness. Yes I could hang this on my wall ..gaze at it all the day long and dream of the quiet stillness of the countryside.

And last but obviously not least "Le Rooster Blanc" ... Yes the White Rooster ..stands mighty and proud with his stunning red comb ... his fancy white tail feathers ...standing by the old farm gate ... A sprightly chap he is .. decked out in his dapper white ..possibly checking on his flock of hens ...

These are just a few of Christies Works .. Her designs number greatly in quantity ... you may even have some of her beautiful works of the heart in your own home...Or you may want to add a piece of her Majestic or Whimsical Floral Beauties  Or if like us you're a  lover of Farmhouse Style then one of her new "Country Farmhouse" Collections Line would look stunning in your dining room on that big beautiful wall opposite the Farm Table ... Or In the bedroom "Daisy Farm" would make for a Beautiful way to fall asleep on a lazy day .... Or how about "My Little Chic-a-dee" in the Kitchen or the garden house ...bringing a smile to your heart and face ...

Christies work is a true reflection of the person she is inside and out and that is " Beautiful ". Christie is down to earth .. quiet tempered, easy going, has a big heart, is Lovely to chat with, and Loves the Lord... Her work just as many of us is her livelihood. She puts in many hours a day dedicated to Making a living for herself and her family. She's a hardworker and what we call a go getter ( meaning she's not afraid to work long and hard if need be) and we are so honored to have met her 3 years ago and to have a sweet friendship with her.

Christie has always had a website where she offers her works of the H-art ... however she has just recently begun offering her collections in her new Online "Chateau De Fleurs" Etsy shop ... Yes the website is still open .. you can find even more of her collections there ..So the choice is yours .. Visit her website or her Etsy shop ... Or Jump in take the plunge and visit both ... and pick out a lovely piece that calls to your heart and your home ... You won't regret it .

Please take a few minutes and Visit Christie ..I know she would be delighted to know you stopped by to visit her shop and blog and to meander through her Beautiful work.

A busy life and a fun filled weekend ..

It's amazing how life changes ....
In January of 2010 My life had come to a cross roads ..
A decision was before me ..and of course I went to the Lord in prayer over it.

I have always been a long time ..Junker , Antiquer and Creator .. I grew up with it and as I got older it grew on me.

In 2010 I was struggling and wondering where to go with life ..what do for work ..and how to accomplish it all. I really needed some answers and guidance ..and of course I was patiently awaiting the Lord for that guidance ..and as we say here at Sweet Magnolias Farm.. "Work While you Wait"

"Working While you Wait" was a quote from a little book given us from a friend many years back ..however I can't remember the name of the book as we passed it on to a friend ..and I hope it has been passed on since ..as it was an amazing book that really gave you encouragement and hope in Christ ..when life seems to be at a holding point.

Anyhow that quote struck a cord with us ...as we were truly in a holding pattern in life and wondering when circumstances were going to change ..and what do you do... will "Work While you Wait" was just perfection for us at the time ..and it worked out in the end ..In God's perfect timing our holding pattern lifted and we moved forward.

Well once again in early 2010 my life faced a similar situation ..and I decided to "Work While I Waited" .. and In January ..or February can't remember which date ..I was contacted to take part in the Chateau De Fleurs 1st Marketplace. I took 2 weeks to think and pray it over ...AND

The rest is History as they say ... Here I am over a year later and I'm still doing what I love ..being blessed beyond words ..and so Thankful for where I'm at today in life ..

I'm busier I think today than I have been in years ..always working in some capacity.. or filled with friendships that I have made in the last year that are such a blessing to me.

I've met such amazing clients that I now call my friends .. life is in bloom and what a beautiful bouquet I have been given.

Speaking of Friends

This last weekend ..Abbey and I spent the Day with a Very Good Friend Sheila of Tattered Goods ... we went off to the local flea market ..and never expected to see friends from the Vintage marketplace we all sell at ..

Of course I was busy doing some serious buying (you know the kind you can't leave because you don't want to miss something) ..so I didn't get to take part in the photo ..but Abbey did ..then Shiela of Tattered Goods .. Eloise of Junk Fairy , Christie Repasy of Chateau De Fleurs and Robin of Furniture Queen ..

Who knew we were all thinking about going flea marketing !

What a Blessing ..to find friends along lifes highways in unexpected ways !

And of course we had a great time at the Flea Market .. We came home with fun finds ..in fact we were a little concerned we weren't going to fit in the truck ..but Alas our specialty packer Abbey who can get just about anything into any car ..made it all fit just like a puzzle ..Thank Goodness !

So as today turns to tomorrow ..and the day after and the day after .. I continue to work ..I contiue to give thanks to the Lord for a good life and good friends ...and whenever that day comes that life must take a turn ...but it won't quite make the turn in my timing ..I shall again Work While I Wait ..because His way is the perfect way I have found !

Wishing you all a Beautiful Week ahead ..and just a quick reminder that our Barn Sale in our Etsy Shop ends this coming Saturday the 25th ..

Plus I have added well over 20 new offerings in the last week ..if you'd like to take a look click HERE

Even the Little People came to the Chateau ...

This last weekend was a hit at the Chateau De Fleurs Marketplace ...even with the Little People ..

This Sweet bundle of love had the perfect view of everything ...After setting up for 2 days Friday morning I was more than jealous of this little guy ..I sure could have used a nice comfy hammock on wheels ...

But I tried to be good and realize ..his mama was raising him right and some girl some day was going to be one lucky chick to have a man that knew a way to a girls heart ..through a fun Artisan and Antique market place. LOL !!!

So I said I had more pictures to share ...so here they are ...

O.k. these shoes are positively divine and made by the talented Lisa Loria of Vintage Bling ..She has such a great eye for putting things together ..Oh how I wish I could wear heels or shoes at all ...( well that's a whole other story ..I'm a flip flop girl not by choice but by heredity) ...I think if I remember right Lisa's shoes are going to be feautured in the Altered Couture Magazine by Stampington Art ...isn't that awesome !!!

Christie Repasy .....had all sorts of vintage goodies greeting you just outside her studio ...I think they were pretty much cleaned out by the time Saturday rolled around. ...If you haven't been to our Marketplace ..make time to come in September on the 17th and 18th ...You can by all Christies art work and offerings and meet her as well ..She's the sweetest gal ...and she's started painting on antique pieces as of late which reminisces her roots ...this show she had a gorgeous trunk an old drawer and a few other pieces that were positively breathtaking ...Oh and I forgot you can visit her studion throughout the week ...just call for her hours ...(760) 645-3946

Trisha of Vintage Bliss had these Great post cards ..love the display and that great old typewriter ...those keep getting harder to find ..I love one sitting at a desk with an old letter rolled in it ..what a great display it makes ...

Rita Reade of Mammabellearte ...Oh my her creations are just lovely ..from her soldered charms ..to her birdhouses ..and Bella her lovely gal that dresses to perfection ..

Linda of Linda's Ivy Nest ...some of you may remember with fondness her store in Old Town Temecula .....Well she was at the marketplace ..with all her wonderful style ..flowers and more ...

Nancy Kruz ....of Touched by time ...brought all her vintage charm to the show ..what a lovely lady she is ...Visit Nancy's shop in Granny's Attic Antique Mall in Old Town Temecula ...Just ask which shop is hers ..to find some amazing Vintage pieces ...

Debbie of Blossoms came ...her flower shop is located Near South Coast Plaza I'm told ..and if her shop reflects what she brought to the marketplace ...you'll love it !!!!

Shirley Castellanos ...was at the marketplace again ..with her Vintage Linen Jackets, Bloomers and Lovely Vintage finds ...

*************************************

Well this was just a fraction of the offerings were there ..and I missed getting pictures of several of the artisans ....

Be Sure to mark your calenders ...Sept 17th and 18th for our Next Marketplace ..

A Simply Wonderful Weekend at the Chateau

"Simply Wonderful"

are the only 2 words I can find that adequately describe the Chateau De Fleurs Marketplace ..hosted by Christie Repasy of Chateau De Fleurs and Rita Reade of Mammabellearte this weekend.

Abbey and I are so Honored to be part of such a talented group of artisans ..and so blessed to be around such sweet, kind ladies that share a love of creating .

Plus any show that offers the gourmet Lunches we get both days is in my book the tops ..Rita's Husband Deane ..and her boys Raffaele and Allan ..Cooked us an unbelievable lunch both days with Dessert that was to die for ..it makes it great for us artisans ..no worries about bringing lunch or worrying about where to get it ..plus nothing would surpass what we served in my book anyway !

This weekend was full of fun and laughter it really got those good endorfins in the brain and body moving ..and I don't think I've talked and laughed so much since the last Marketplace in March.

Well of course I'm posting to share pictures of the marketplace for all you locals that didn't make it and for all my faraway blog friends that I love to share with.

Oh there's alot so be prepared ...we took a full truck load plus a 6 x 12 foot trailer with us ..we had a full 10 x 10 space plus shared a corner with Sheila of Tattered goods and let me tell you she kept us on our toes and smiling the whole show through ..that girl has energy enough for us all and she's always upbeat making it such a blessing to be around here and of course she shares our love for God so that kind of helps you know just a little ..LOL to bring us together.

So ...here's a walk down memory Lane ..Our Shop at the Chateau De Fleurs June Show 2010

This was the opening to our shop ....it was packed full of small goodies to large goodies ..

I shared the wonderful ottoman with you before the show ..but not our bench. We absolutely love both pieces ...these 2 didn't find homes this show so they'll be hitting the road with us in July ..well unless one of you locals out in blog land are interested ????

Abbey and I love Burlap ...so we draped this Garden sets table in burlap and displayed all of our glass decanters, bottles and bud vases on it with moss and raffia poking out eveywhere .....

O.k. ....here's one of our Planters we did ..the one I gave a sneek peek of ...here's the finished piece ...Although we sold our other planters ..this one made it's way back home yesterday ,..Papa Fred as Rita calls my dad wasn't so sad it came back ..he loves this piece ...!!! Well it will grace our garden for a while ..but it will be available for purchase to anyone local or it will be headed to our July show with us ..I can't believe it didn't sell ..I thought this piece would be the first to go ..isn't that the way it always is ..what you think will fly out doesn't and what you think won't go quick does ..you just can't predict now can you !!!

So this was one of my Favorite Planters we did ..made from an old tool box and Buggy springs ..so quirky and whimzical ..when the wind blows the little box sways and bounces ..I just love it !!!

Our Queen of the Garden Chair didn't last long ...it went to a new home ...along with our Garden Queen Sign ...I'm so glad !!!

Our Beautiful Concrete Shell fountain ...our friend Pearl who comes to the Marketplace took home with her. Papa Fred was glad to load it and let it go to a new home. He's so good to me and helps with all the heavy stuff when he can ..but I know he's glad he doesn't have to help me with it again ..I told him there is always a new piece on the horizon so prepare I may be trucking home a new piece any day now ..LOL !!!

Our new Galvenized Bucket lights ..we offered for the first time ...We all loved them ...

This Urn full of bud vases was an immediate hit ..we had a phone call in from a husband that wanted all the bud vases ...so we wrapped them up ..and later he came for them ...a gift for his wife who has a rose garden ..isn't that the sweetest and no less on Father's Day weekend .....What a Guy !!!

Our sweet Tea Cart full of Rose Pitchers (still available) ...

Another one of our Galvenized Bucket lights wrapped in Antique Lace with prisms around the rim ..a recycled finial top ..and a cute pull chain embellished with a tassle ....

Our Creamy Burlap and lace Flower Chandelier ..it's so Yummmy !!!!

Remember I mentioned we were makinf Custom Farmhouse Romance Aprons ...Well they are not your typical apron ...these are great for outerwear over your jeans or skirt ...give up the purse and fill the 2 or 3 pockets with your cash, credit cards, checkbook ,,,and what nots and off you go in style ...They are perfect for serving a luncheon with a group of your girlfriends ..and every one is a one of a kind. We make them all from vintage lace an linens ..they are literally covered as one customer put it ..In lace ..which was a good thing. One we sold was headed to a function to where over a beautiful white dress ..another was headed to tea where your aprons have to made from recycled materials ..isn't that cool !!! We still have some aprons left ..hopefully I can post picts of them this week for you all to see !!!

So Last but not least ...this was the display at my checkout table ...it was a last minute decision on my part ...I was looking for smalls to take with us ...and I had this epiphony that when I go places I love it when they have all the little antique mini trinkets layed out to look through when I'm checking out ..It gets me every time. So I thought surely if I love those little antique gems then other's would too ..and sure enough my little box diminished very quickly ...there's just something about all those small gems that makes a girls heart pitty pat ...don't you think !!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So this Show we got to share a corner between our spaces with Sheila of Tattered Goods as I mentioned ...I can't believe how well our two shops blended we kept bouncing customers back and forth ...."No that's Sheila's ..and No that's Sara's" ...went on several times ...
We had a Great time setting up together ..Abbey and Sheila I think are now BFF's from what I read today on Sheilas Tattered Goods Blog ...LOL !!! Seriously ..Sheila and Abbey had a great time ..they were cracking me up all weekend long !!!
So here's a peek at Sheila's Shop ..what a talented Gal She is ..Her offerings are to die for ..
I love how she displayed her towels ...if you haven't had a chance to see them in person ..well hop on over to her BLOG and visit them in her Etsy Shop. These are quality towels she makes with great designs ..and they are NOT I repeat NOT ..iron On images. Sheila applies her images with Professional Machinery ...so they are guaranteed to last a long time and just get better with age !!!
Is the Step stool she planted with flowers just not the cutest !!! I loved it ..!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dont' forget to visit Sheila ...of Tattered Goods blog ...Her next show will be in Escondido, CA at the Urban Barn ..

And that should be our next show too ..I'll be confirming that in the next few days.
I believe it will be July 16th - 18th ...I'll get more of the details and share them with you all very soon !!!

I hope you enjoyed the picts ....and guess what ..I have more to come ..there were so many artisans and I have a ton of really wonderful pictures to share with you in the upcoming week.

Until then...wishing you all a Beautiful and Blessed week !!!

Blessing s..Sara
