What's new at Spring Creek, Gone Antiquing, and Allergies on the attack...

It's been a busy week for me how about Y'all ?

First part of the week was spent doing a complete revamp to my shop space at Spring Creek Antiques. Abbey and I added all sorts of new vintage items to my space including some new furniture pieces that are for sale. This weekend we hit up a fun antique sale and I came home with some great finds which I can't wait to get into my shops and in my Etsy shop as well... the down side of the week was the tree pollen got to me again and literally within 1 hour of being out at the antique sale I was sneezing 5 and 6 times in a row over and over then the watery eyes, the sinus issues and a really strange sore throat that still has it's hold on me tonight. I broke down last night and took some Benadryl to go to bed and it did help... today is much better than it normally is when I just ride it out for a few weeks....

So on to sharing my shop space revamp ..

I took this space over from a friend who just did a beautiful job picking products and styling it. And although I would love to say I could make it look like she did .. we all have our own touch and way we see things styled so it will always be different from the beautiful way she styled it. 

When I took it over I bought most of the permanent (Not for sale) furniture items she had in order to make it an easy switch for me. Since taking it over in February.. I decided the last few weeks that I would love to give it a whole new look and I would actually like having a few pieces of furniture that were different and for sale to be part of the space .. 

So this week Abbey and I headed in and added the cute vintage red paint table .. the adorable white cupboard, and all the little tables benches, shelf and our cute lil' ol' dress form "Mabel" all gussied up in her Dress and Apron from the 1940s ..

I offer mainly antique and vintage items with a few new farmy items tucked in. I am generally an all vintage girl at heart .. but I don't mind a few new things if they have the right look, style and are a good quality item. Antique, Vintage and the right new pieces can make a beautiful marriage. So rather you love vintage or new farmy pieces or both you can find a sweet variety in my shop space to choose from...

This little red and white truck is just one of many new but vintage pieces that made it to the shop this week as my heart tugged to keep it. It's a hydraulic truck so the dump back on it raises up .. I could just see it at Christmas with a load of bottle brush trees tied with jute laid in the back of it and a tiny wood sign hanging from the side .. something like "Farm Fresh Trees U- Cut Em"  Right now I have some really cute farm style absorbent stone coasters that are packaged in sets of 4 tucked in .. perfect for these warm summer days when your sweet tea or ice cold coca-cola starts sweating from the humidity and you don't want rings on your table .. and you want something cute to set them on  ..

And if you like some one of a kind pieces .. well the fun red birdhouse is just that a OOAK that Abbey made.. a cute one holer that simply nails or screws to the wall, post or fence .. and has some cute little architectural finds and wood trims she added to gussy it up.  Just below it .. is an authentic piece of folk art .. a handmade rooster and chick sitting on a fence post... what a darling piece for the mantle ..

 

Who out there loves old advertising tins ? My hand is raised in the air and I'm jumping up and down !!!

From Marshmallows. Crackers. and Coffee tins and more.. there's some charming tins awaiting a new home sweet home.

I seriously think I could have shelves full of these old tins or stacks on benches .. I love early advertising pieces that are full of color, great graphic designs and cute fonts...

And of course it's Spring well for some of us .. seems old man winter is trying to hold on with clenched fists this year for some of you .. but for those of us who are now hitting temps in the 80's with lots of rain it's the perfect time to be planting and adding some charm to your farm by sprucing it up with some pops of color. Flowers, Gardening tools, sweet signs and more ...

Well the shop is choc full of wonderful Farmhouse and Vintage Goodness I hope you enjoyed a little stroll through our shop space ....  if you're local or just passin' through the Missouri Ozarks be sure and take a minute to stop by for a little shopping and while your in at Spring Creek Antiques be sure and grab some good eats at Spring Creek's Tea Room..(Tuesday -Saturday)  From scrumptious sandwhiches, soups, salads...and Oh Girl the desserts are to die for .. you'll struggle on what dessert to choose and you may need a piece for eating in and a piece for taking on the road and a piece for when you get home ... you're warned ... "Just sayin'"

New Additions and a quick revamp to the shop

It was a busy Monday for us .. how about you all ? 

Today we spent the better part of the afternoon at our shop space. We took in all sorts of new vintage goodness and did a little revamping to our shop displays that were looking a little bedraggled after items have sold and left either empty spots or left the display lacking .. 

And as I said adding more vintage goodness to the shop space ..Here's a bunch of photos for you all to enjoy and if you're local be sure and hop on down and visit our shop space or run or drive or take the bus .. LOL .. whatever makes you happy and bring a few friends while you're at it !

 

 

 

 

 we recently sold out of our Pendelton, Irish Wool and Plaid Throws ... so I was thrilled to find a few more .. along with a vintage green and cream floral bed blanket with original tags .. A vintage Montgomery wards Western Field Stainless Thermos .. The cutest Plaid Flannel Purse .. a cool Western snap front Pendelton shirt and so much more !

Our New Shop Space .. Now Open in Ozark, MO at Camp Flea Antique Mall

Hey Y'all .. well once again it's been a long time between posts. Well this mother/daughter duo have been super busy galavanting all over the countryside and we opened a shop space at a local antique mall. 

Well this was never in our plans completely we tossed the idea to and fro .. had a few malls we really liked and talked about "If we ever get a space again" ..but never really went for it. I wanted a big space .. Abbey was into a small space .. and most places had some small spaces available but I just couldn't get into a small space .. well a large space in one of the local antique malls came available .. and it had electricity which is always a biggie to me .. I like lights and well lit spaces .. anyhow that kinda sold me on it and here we are a month later moving in, setting up and putting our toes in the water in our New Home Sweet Home of MO to see if the locals and the passerby's like what we offer as well as all our wonderful clients did on the west coast. By the way we miss you all .. just not CA.. LOL !

So we've been working hard setting up our shop .. and I thought you all might enjoy seeing what we've done. And for those locals that happen on our blog .. well come down and see us at Camp Flea Antique Mall and Vintage Marketplace in Ozark, MO.

Today we went back in and added an old wood header over the door .. and hung our shop sign. Abbey designed our shop sign from an old apple basket lid and some vintage aluminum lettering ..and I truly love it ..

 And we added our business cards to the shop .. although I didn't get a photo of them .. this is them .. my front and back designs. 

I kept my old farmhouse I love .. but went to a simpler two tone design in charcoal and white .. and designed our business name with a great whimsical font.

Well if you live in or near the Springfield/Ozark Area .. or are traveling to the Branson area ..on 65 hwy .. well be sure and stop in and see us at Camp Flea Antique Mall and Vintage Marketplace.

Just Horsin' Around ..

This last week while we were out "Horsin" around .. we drove down one of our favorite farm roads. 

One of my favorite farm roads because on it we pass 2 farms that have "Clydesdales"

Oh how I have loved these horses since I was a little girl. 

I used to tell my parents when I was little I was going to have a Clydesdale when I grew up .. and well that hasn't come true .. kind of like when we were driving in the car when I was oh somewhere about 10 we passed a car I was enamored with .. I told my mom that's the car I wanted when I grew up .. it was a Rolls Royce !!! .. Yeah that hasn't happened either .. LOL ! 

Well I'm truly home here in the Ozarks surround by beautiful countrysides and farm land .. flowing streams and rivers abundant trees and green pastures and calm, quiet, days. It's the life I was meant for. 

I love all the critters be they pets, farm animals or the wild turkey, and deer .. the odd skunk and opossum ..or the little turtles that try to make their way across the farm roads .. and of course I can't leave out the birds that sing so heavenly. 

But on this day we headed out .. at the top of my list were the Clydesdales ! .. These gentle Giants with their stunning gaits and feathered legs .. their gallant strides and their sweet faces steal my heart every time I lay eyes on them. 

It's time for the Mare's to Foal .. so their were youngin's and their mama's out in their pastures .. on one side of the road .. and on the opposite side were the adults just grazing and giving the occasional whinny ! .. A horse song to behold.

Of all days I had my camera with me .. so I got a few shots of these majestic creatures .. to share with you all .. Enjoy !

The things that hide in the countryside ~ Rosewood Farms ~ Hartville, Mo

The things that hide in the countryside .. you'd be amazed !

Well I'm always up for a good drive in the county and if that happens to include stopping in at a shop and food along the way .. well you can pretty much count me in.

About a month or so back a post came up on my FB page from Ozarks Alive. They were featuring a darling country store and gifts shop out in the middle of nowhere. Well I guess not really the middle of nowhere unless you consider a 2 lane farm road with no other business around and an hour from the nearest city the middle of nowhere. I suppose if you're a city dweller that just might be your definition of the middle of nowhere !

Well we finally got around to taking our afternoon trip to "Rosewood Farms". This is a family run business which you can read more about HERE. Gift shop, and Handmade Chocolates ... Oh MY! You'll see below that there are not any photos of chocolates ..well I ate them ! I got S'mores Dark chocolate with graham cracker and marshmallow inside and we also got some Dark Chocolate covered English Toffee .. lets just say the camera never had a chance no matter how quick the shutter speed would have been set ..LOL .. Yes that should tell you the chocolates were amazingly good .. wished I had bought a few more packages the day after ! However if you want to see their chocolates and or buy some you can do so HERE

And if you want to see inside the gift shop then visit Ozarks Alive HERE they were given the opportunity to photograph the shop inside and well you'll just love the photos !

The Farm is beautiful... and even doubles as I believe a Wedding Venue and a place for photographers to come do stylized shoots. ( be sure if you go there is a fee and waivers if you're doing a professional shoot)  Well the grounds were beautiful ... and even though they don't allow photography inside the shop they do allow for photos of the farm to be taken so here's a few for you all to enjoy...

I loved Grandpa Joe's Windmill ...

And there were such beautiful Fall flowers in bloom .. My gosh the flower heads on these must have been 6 inches across at least...

The Honey Bees were out and buzzin' round the flowers .. taking in all the nectar they could get.

On our way back we stopped in the small old town of Hartville, MO. It's a town that has a few shops and a cafe..but mainly the storefronts are sitting empty. At one time in history it was a small working town of business but as so many of small towns go today they are places of history you seem to just pass through...with a working gas station and convenience store.

On one of the old brick building walls was the old Coca Cola add .. these old adds painted on the brick buildings are such icons of a bygone era. An era my heart loves for the simplicity of it's time.

Across the street on another building wall ..is this painting of a Soldier Praying with his Bible open .. I Love this ! 

We left the small town of Hartville and wound our way a few miles down the road and stopped off at this dilapadated beauty.

An old farmhouse perched upon a hill with bare branched trees surrounding it. I imagine the trees were full but just a few weeks back ..but with 1 little cold front that pushed through a week ago.. so many of the trees went bare .

I imagine this house has a great many stories hidden in it's walls to tell.. Hard winters, Hot Summers, Christmas's past, Laughter, Joy, Tears and times of hardship.... Now it stands as but a mere memory of a time that past long ago.

But it still stands tall holding on to the bits and pieces left of it . Perched on a hill overlooking a vast countryside filled with rolling hills .. and vast amounts of trees... a countryside that is positively picturesque.
