Wedding in Malibu ~ With Touched by Time Vintage Rentals ....

 

Well hey Y'all .. I hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend ..

 

I spent Saturday from 3 a.m. in the morning ...(Yep I was an early Bird but no I didn't get a worm ...I got a crumb cake instead .. I think it was better than a worm ! )

And Nancy and Kelly of  Touched by Time Vintage Rentals...

 

Kari and I were asked to help with a Wedding that Nancy and Kelly were styling with their many Vintage props .. They needed help with such a big venue and Nancy recruited me to photograph the styling of the event ...I'm by no means a professional photographer just an amateur .. so I did my best getting photos for her and Kelly to use on their FB page and their website...

 

We headed out to Malibu which was about a 3 hour drive from where we all live ....it was a nice drive and thank goodness no traffic ... ..

 

 

We arrived at the Venue .. the trucks were unloaded and we all got to work styling ....

 

Over 20 different lounge areas of Vintage Furniture and vintage accessories ...

 

 

 

 

Kari and I started in this big tree .. hanging frames from the massive branches which lets  just say were very high .. we had to climb a 10 foot ladder to the top just to reach the nearest branch to tie a line to.  Kari did most of the ladder climbing and I did the cutting of the twine and holding the frames in place. I think it took us an hour and a half or so ... but the end result was well worth it ...

 

 

 

Later the Props were added .. along with the Brides Guest Book and Photos ..

 

 

 

 

This Venue.. had a lower and upper level that we styled .. a reception area for the guests to have

 

hors d'oeuvres  and drinks .. and the Dinner and Band area for guests to relax in vintage style and comfort ..

 

Nancy and Kelly Put together this charming Photo Booth designed from vintage doors ..for all the Wedding Guests to chalk messages in and then take pictures for the Bride and Groom ...

They set up this charming Table which Conrad .. ( nancy's husband) made and from what I understand is one of their most rented tables for the sweet heart table .. and once again it was the sweet heart table along with one of their vintage setees' .. and a vintage chandelier .. I was told the front of the table was going to be draped in a swag of fresh flowers .. I bet it was gorgeous ..

 



One of their newest backdrops which I think turned out just fabulous is this 16 foot long vintage door backdrop .. this wedding wanted it used as a divider to block the restrooms from the guest's view while dining .. I think it turned out just fabulous and gosh it could be used for so many other options at any occasion or celebration...

 

This Venue was absolutely stunning... Large Grassy Lawns under Massive shade Trees... With open fields filled with horses ... It must be an absolute dream to live there !

 

 

 

Well all in all I had a great Saturday ..because I spent it with friends ... and we did a good job getting the Lounges set up and we all worked really well together ..

 

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the way home at a place called Chipotle which I had never been to... Their Chicken Tacos were very refreshing and delicious ....

 

The day overall turned out Good ....

 

however I didn't beat the heat .. after a full day in the heat .. and temps in the high 90's .. my body wasn't too happy with me.. when we left I was fighting a migraine .. by the time I got home ..I felt ill .. and for 2 days after I was a sick gal .. Come to find out I ended up with Sun Poisoning ...

 

I started being sensitive to the sun and heat a few years back... Last year I had a bought where I almost passed out from being in the heat and sun too long .. and well this year doesn't seem to be proving any better ... so I'm just learning that my body has boundaries today that it didn't have before and I'm going to have to learn to work within those bounds ...

 

I'm doing better today .. thank goodness .. let me tell you, Sun Poisoning isn't for sissy's ...

A Sweet Wedding Suprise ..from White Lotus Studios

This last week I received a sweet wedding suprise ...

Last Year ....I was honored to be asked to create a custom Brides Bouquet, Maid of Honor Bouquet, Boutineers, and Mother's Flowers for a Lovely Bride to be Kami.

Kami hired me only seeing my Sheet Music Paper Roses available on Etsy ..to create her bouquets site unseen and to even create them in a custom color which she explained as a grey lavender. Grey Lavender was all I had to go on ..no swatches in hand or even anything e-mailed .. so I researched Lavender on the internet until I came up with a lavender that I felt reflected a grey lavender and began mixing my colors until I matched it.

Kami took such a big chance on me .. she trusted from a single photo of an aged  paper rose to create Keepsake Bouquets and Flowers for her special day !

It took me a couple weeks to work on her bouqets creating the right color and getting the right look perfecting each stem and each petal .. .. Including adding customized ribbon at her request with her and her husband to be's favorite song Title... The Custom Ribbon  wrapped around the stems of the flowers and then feel in long tendrils from the base. And Lastly they were all dipped  in a sea of Silver German Glass Glitter...Setting each bouquet , boutinner and mothers Flower to stunning perfection !

I carefully wrapped an packaged them ..and sent them off with an extremely nervous stomach.... Hoping with all Hope that I had created bouquets and flowers that she was going to absolutely Love ...

I waited in anticpation and I admit fear too ... to hear back from her when she recieved them ... And to my absolute excitement I received an e-mail from her .. saying she and her Fiance absolutely Loved them ... I had a massive sigh of relief that day ... !

It wasn't that I didn't love the bouquets I had created just the opposite .. in fact I loved how they came out so much ... but the truth is we all have different taste ..and when you are creating something from scratch that your client hasn't seen .. it leaves a great option that possibly your minds didn't meet from the beginning on what they were picturing and what you actually created ... Not that they were wrong or you were .. we just all have different visions sometimes .. So Kami's approval and Love for her bouquets was a huge moment in time for me !

Kami promised that she being a professional wedding Photographer ..would send me photos ..and I have waited in anticipation for them to come. This last week my Wedding Suprise was that she sent me photos from the wedding .. and they are so stunning ! .

I Said "I Do"

I finally did it ...

I said "I Do"

After a year of being prodded and being told that I should

I Finally took the leap after being contacted by a lovely girl regarding the paper roses I make ..and asking if I could create her Bridal Bouquet, Maid of Honor Bouqet, Boutineers and Mother's Roses for her.

I knew when she wrote and asked that I was finally ready to begin taking our Roses another step.

For the last year or so many friends, customers and family suggested it would be a good idea ..but my creative mood just couldn't grasp the exact concept and artistic desire to do it.

Finally when Kami asked ..it was the right moment in time and I was ready to jump in with both feet and begin a new journey and I'm so glad I did.

Although Kami resides in the mid-west her wedding will take place here in CA, on the ocean in May. Her Colors are light Lavender, Dark Grey and Ivory ..a truly lovey combination !

Kami requested her flowers be in a light lavender and my first challenge was to hand dye her flowers to a beautiful lavender. Until researching the color lavender ..I had no idea truly how many shades of lavender there are from grey lavenders, blue lavenders and pink lavenders there is actually quite an array. We tried for a sterling lavender and with time achieved it.

Her one very important sentimental request was that the name of her and her Fiance's song be included in each floral piece some way.

And she wanted the roses Dusted in the Silver German Glass Glitter that Makes our roses so sweetly unique.

I knew I wanted to add crinkled seam binding tendrils to her bouquets .. so what better than to create custom made Ribbon with the name of their song and the band at their request ..in 2 of their favorite fonts.

The Above Picture and the one just below are her finished Bridal and Maid of Honor Bouquets ..

And I'm so excited at how beautiful they turned out...

My Next challenge was creating Boutineers ..and although that seems an easy task ..it was a bit more difficult than one would think. You see These roses are made petal by petal ..and the smaller the petal the more difficult it is to hold everything together .. But I prevailed ..and the boutineers came to life ...

Each Boutineer ...a mere 2 inches around by 4 inches in length .. will simply adorn each gentelmens suit jacket ...simply and elegantly !

Once again their Song "You & Me" ...simply added to the flower and adding sentiment to be remembered in their many years to come.

Lastly ..she requested a single Rose for each of the Mothers'.

We mimicked the bouquets ...with tendrils of crinkled seam binding ..the custom ribbon and the Beautiful Silver German Glass Glitter that will look stunning in each Mothers' hand.

Our Paper Roses are such a Fabulous Alternative to Fresh Flowers ..

They are a Truly Beautiful and Sentimental Keepsake for Years to come. And they can all be used after the wedding to adorn a Gorgeous Glass Vase ..A bedside or even Entry Table.. A reminder of that very special day ..when those 2 Special words are spoken In Love and Truth .. "I DO"

Kami is a wedding photographer ..and She's offered to share pictures of the wedding with me, which I am thrilled about. I by no means have much photographic experience ..so It will be an absolute pleasure to recieve professional photographs ..and when I do ..I'll be sure to share them all with you.
