Well it's another beautiful day here at the farmhouse .. ready to kick off a full day's work ..

 

Since we are a little less than a month away from Valentines Day .. I thought this was the perfect time to offer you all a few of our Vintage Valentines..

 

As I was going through the manila envelope marked Valentines yesterday ..I was shocked at how many we had .. it's been several years since I have peeked in that envelope ... so I'm excited to have these 4 to offer and more to come ..

Vintage Thanksgiving Postcard ~ Sweet Magnolias Farm Free Clip Art and Printables

Hey You all .. Well it's been well over a week since I last posted .. This last week has been super busy getting the business ready for Christmas .. It's always strange for me to be designing and making Christmas in 100 degree heat .. It was like I needed a snow machine and to turn the AC on high so I could put on a sweater and pretend it was cold out..LOL !

 

 

I wanted to start today out with this Beautiful Thanksgiving Postcard from the early 1900's .. I love these old style cards with the glitter on them ..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This would be such a beautiful piece turned into a small plaque .. if you don't have the tools to cut wood ..you can buy premade plaques at your local craft store ( michaels, jo anns and hobby lobby) Even Home Depot has a section of precut wood pieces. 

 

Simply Print this out to the size you would like .. then Use Modge Podge  to apply.  Add the Modge Podge directly to the wood . then lay your print on top and smooth it out gently with your hand making sure it applies evenly so there are no bubbles. Wait for it to Dry. Then coat the top with Modge Podge .... Drill a couple holes in the top corners and add your hanger ( ribbon, twine, wire etc) Or if you aren't handy with the drill Use Ribbon or Twine and hot glue the ends to each top corner on the back.   Then add some glitter to the front.. and you have a lovely Fall Plaque to enjoy that's been Made by You.

On pinterest people are pinning away fall images and fall creations .. and the shops and stores are already filling their shelves with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Fall décor .. Memorial Day & Fourth of July Free Printables ~ Red, White and Blue ~

Hey Y'all ..

Well I thought I would share these 3 Stunning vintage post cards from the 1940's with you this week. as 3 of our new free printables we will begin offering again now that I'm getting back to blogging.

Just in time for your Memorial Day and Fourth of July decorations.


For many years I was an avid collector of Antique Patriotic Items ..

From Flags dating back to the Spanish American War, Authentic Uncle Sam Costumes from the early 1900's, Sweetheart Jewelry and more..... I amassed quite the collection over many years time and yes I still have it all.

Here are a few of the wonderful old Postcards that have been part of my collection.


 

 

I added this Beautiful Blue Lace Frame for your Pleasure...

 

 

 

These are for personal use only as I'm unsure of what the copyright law for mass reproduction would be for business. Feel Free to right click on the images and save to your pictures for your personal use.





* These would make charming Place Cards for a BBQ

* Print onto heavy Cardstock ..Trim with decorative scissors add Large tongue depressors with Hot glue or a stapler to the bottoms and Make Old Fashioned Paper Fans ... If you have a laminator you could laminate them or take them to your local print shop and let them laminate them so your guests have a charming gift to take home.

* Print out on Index Cards ...Then use a glue stick to attach the cards to the front of brown Paper Lunch Bags .. and fill with Goodies for the Kids and the Adults.

* Make a Paper Banner to Hang ... Print out multipes onto Index Cards .. then Punch holes in the top corners and run string, ribbon or crepe paper streamer through the holes to create a fun banner you can hang on the wall ... cut out some cute cardstock stars to string inbetween the cards so it breaks up the reptition ..Make as short or as long as you like for the space you want it to span ..

These are just a few fun ideas I would love doing and hope you might too  ..

I went through our Antique Patriotic File today and found a few of my Favorite pieces to share with all of you ..

 

 

 

 

This First Piece is actually a little booklet with all the flags preceding our flag as we know and love it today . The Front cover is just beautiful ..and I love that it was actually a little giveaway booklet by Chase and Sanborn Tea and Coffee .. Gosh this was way back, when companies were not afraid to honor the America we live in !

 

I love the early 1900's cards with the Victorian women on them .. She is so beautiful with her sparklers ...and I must admit I love the color of the dress she is wearing ..

 



 

This piece being a post card ..I decided to share the back ..

Free Printable ~ Antique Aster Seed Packet

 

Happy Friday to everyone ..

 

I'm sure many of you are gearing up for a wonderful Memorial day weekend .. with Family, Friends, maybe the first BBQ of the Season ...

 

I thought I would share another beautiful seed packet this week .. since we are still in spring and summer even though it feels as though it's arrived in many parts of the country isn't officially here.

 

This Beautiful Aster Packet is another from our sweet collection ..

 

I love how they made the packets of yesteryear so appealing and beautiful. Today's seed packets or I should say the one's I have seen at the local hardware store are just not appealing. I can imagine if they actually put some gorgeous picts or graphics on today's seed packets .. us Gals would gobble them up like candy not just for the seed but for the collecting. It would be awesome if one of the seed companies like the "Ball Anniversary Jars" .. would come out with a remember when collection or something to that effect.

Free Printable ~ Kitten in Basket Antique Advertising Card

 

Well it's a beautiful Saturday Afternoon .. The Sun is shining bright ..and well I have to admit it's Hot .. it's in the 90's here today and supposed to reach well near 100 degrees over the next few days.

 

So needless to say I'm staying inside.

 

It's been an amazingly busy week .. It seems for us it tends to be that way leading up to any special day or Holiday ..and Mother's Day is one of those busy times for us. In fact I got so busy that I had Jury Duty starting this last Monday .. and I completely forgot to call in until "Thursday" Night .. I was in a bit of a panic .. I didn't know what happened if you didn't call in and all I could think was "is there a warrant out for my arrest ?" .. you can laugh but that's what I thought. Well I called that night and it said to appear at 8:00 a.m. any morning within so many days at the courthouse .. So needless to say I wasn't waiting around ..Friday Morning I was at the courthouse at 8 sharp. I found out that I had to sit and wait to see if I would be called to serve that morning and the great thing was that being it was Friday they don't generally start trials so we were released by 10:30 yesterday morning. So now I'm good ..until they send me another summons ..which they send quite often .. I get them 2 to 3 times a year ..

 

So today I finally have a few minutes to just sit down and blog .. and thought this was a good time to share this week's "Free Printable"

Free Printable ~ Dress Form, Mannequin "How To Look Your Best:

 

 

So are Dress Forms still Popular ? I know for a few years now they have been all the rage .. ! But I wondered if the fire for them is still burning or has slowed down ?

 

I  fell in love with them the last few years and can count five that I have sitting here at the farmhouse that I use either at markets , or in photos for the shop , or just because I enjoy looking at them.

 

So have you all collected dress forms ?

 

I found this cute vintage Dress Form Card... I think it was probably an advertisement. I have had this saved away in my scans for several years now. I think I once used a copy of it on a cute decoupage project that I made. It's been a while and the brains a bit foggy on exactly what the project was ..LOL !

 

Anyhow it's now yours for the using and the enjoying.

 

 

 

I have also included it on the "Free Printables" page in Black and white and with the background removed and made it aqua blue for your pleasure !

 

 

This would make such a charming Pillow front wouldn't it ..

Free Printable ~ Charming Sweet Alyssum Seed Packet ~ Enjoy !

It's a Lovely Saturday here at the farmhouse ..we had fog overnight and the morning has stayed beautifully overcast with a cool onshore breeze... These make for mornings I so thoroughly enjoy !

 

Today's free printable is another piece from our personal collection ...

 

This antique seed packet is one of the more beautiful ones we have and one of my favorites because it's for Sweet Alyssum.

 

We love growing alyssum once it's planted it's such an easy keeper and the honey sent that permeates the air when in bloom is just intoxicating. I don't handle perfumes and such at all but this is one floral scent that seems to really agree with me ...

 

I think this would be such a beautiful piece blown up and framed ..or wouldn't it make the most charming garden stake or garden ornament !

 

 

 

 

 

I know at lowe's in the roofing section they sell small galvanized squares of metal. I think they are about 5 x 8 maybe 4 x6 .. but around that size and for only like 68 cents each. Your could purchase one of those and drill a couple holes in the top corners . Then print this out .. Modge podge it on ..then use a clear spray to coat it and  add a jute or twine hanger you would have an adorable garden hanger ..

 

Or how about a Garden journal ?... This would make the most beautiful front !

 

 

There's so many fun ideas for using this seed packet ....
