Sweet Magnolias Farm "NEW" "Feedsack Collection" now available....

Well Happy Saturday to You All !

 

Here we are already in October and Fall is upon us ..we are having the warm days, cool nights, and this weekend we have wind .... All the right ingredients for a perfect Autumn Day. So how's Fall looking where you are at ? Are the tree's changing color ? Are the nights getting cool ? Now don't answer that if you're in the Dakotas' because I know the answer to that, some of you all are buried in 37 inches of snow ...talk about a weather change ! Those 100 year storms always are a shocker and especially if you are in the path of one.

 

 

Well Abbey and I have been busy the last few months creating and designing our New

 "Feed Sack Collection" 

 And we are thrilled to now be offering it in our Sweet Magnolias Farm Etsy Store.

 

 

We have collected Among a number of other vintage doodads Antique and Vintage Feed, Seed, Salt and Flour Sacks for quite a few years now ... and most of them we don't have the heart to cut up.  It's so hard cutting them when you know how rare they are becoming as the years pass and time takes it's toll on them or Mother Nature destroys them through natural disasters or the kids throw that old junk out and off to the garbage dump it goes ..and ....It's kind of like back in the day when old raggedy falling apart quilts were all the rage also known as "cutter quilts" remember when ? Well Abbey and I scoured the Flea Markets, Antique Malls, and Yard Sales for those fabulous worn, torn and ragged quilts ..only to not have the heart to cut them up ..LOL! Yep we ended up stacking them up in cupboards after choosing to cut up 1 or 2 and then be sad about it... I guess that's our sentimental hearts !

 

 Well the same goes for pretty much the majority of our Feed Sacks but we wanted a way to make them available for everyday use ..so we found a way to bring you these fabulous original designs in our Everyday Farmhouse Linens.

 

From Natural Muslin Runners with tattered edges and triple ruffled ends ~ To Our Farmhouse Hot Pads, Flour Sack Towels and our Scrumptious Sawdust Pillows.

Well of course we said "YES" ... for heavens sake we have collected all kinds of Canning jars for years and have a pretty hefty collection that we dearly love ..and the thought of adding their new 100 Year Anniversary Jars to our collection was just exciting ...

 

Well in our agreement we asked them if they would be willing to send us a second case .. So these fabulous Vintage Style Anniversary Ball Jars that are now available through Ball .. as you can see are in the Iconic blue color .. and just as lovely as the true vintage ones. They come in this charming blue and brown period - inspired  packaging ... Love the design ... reminds me of the old old boxes we have found over the years that canning jars came in and how great the graphics were ..I love that they reminisced this even in the box !

The jars are beautifully made .. and sturdy .. of course Made in the U.S.A. we wouldn't expect less now would we ..

 And

 

 We just had to show the New Jar along side of our 2 authentic Vintage Jars on the cake plate above. They actually look so good together the new and the old .. The Lighter softer blue of the authentic Vintage jars with the Brighter Blue of the New Jars compliment one another so perfectly.

Abbey and I Love that Ball specially marked these Jars for the Ball Anniversary ..It makes them so special and so unique and what a great collectors item too !

 

Here at the farmhouse I must admit we don't do a lot of canning.. Way back in the olden days Abbey used to do canning and was even self-taught. I understand that canning is popular once again among all ages ..and that's fabulous ! It would be so much fun to purchase a set of these if your a home canner and add that special preserves or jam you make for giving gifts throughout the year..

 

But Canning Jars aren't just for Canning anymore now are they !

 

If your like us .. these are positively charming for sippin some sweet tea or a nice ice cold coca cola. I'm sure we may have to throw in some dessert too and fill em up with apple pie mixins or a hot fudge sundae and eat er straight from the jar .. It's the jar that makes it special and makes the fun in servin it and the fun in eatin it too !

UPDATE 4/22/13 I know several of you have said that the blue ball jars are sold out at the ball store.. I contacted them this morning and they don't have a date to give us when they will re-stock them ..They said Joanns and Michaels carry them ..and I Googled "Ball American Heritage Jars" .. and several shops come up that appear to have them for sale so you might try that too. I know they are limited edition but not sure what that means will they make more or not ? ... Hope that helps some.

Giveaway at Sugar Pie Farmhouse And Valentines Day Already !!!

Well we all must admit we love the word "FREE" ..and the word "GIVEAWAY" right behind it....

 

Anything in life anymore in the everyday world that says "Free" usually always has a catch or strings attatched to it and that's such a sad thing.

 

I remember in my early years of growing up the wonderful giveaways that were offered at Gas stations, or the grocery store ... it truly kept buyers coming back and made going shopping just a bit more fun...

 

My Parents reminisce about the good old days of blue chip stamps and the set of aluminum cups they got for drinking Ice Cold Kool Aid in ... remember Kool Aid .. gosh I loved that as a kid .. however that was a very and I mean very great once and a while we got that as kids it was a treat for us ... and therefore it was all the more treasured and it made for memorable times.

And it's hard to believe but in just a little over a month .. we once again Embark on another of our holidays "Valentines Day" ... Seriously ..it's already here and yes I started being asked about Valentines Towels just a few days after Christmas ... You girls are so on it !

 

Well I was a bit ahead of you this year and already had my Valentines designs ready before Christmas ..Yep I was on it this year ..LOL ! Actually truth is several of the shops that I design for were giving me dates they needed there Valentines by ..so I had to be ahead of the game .. I cannot tell you as a designer how odd it is to be listening to Christmas Music ..and thinking of Snow and Hot Cocoa ..and being in the mood to design Valentines images. At that time it seemed like so long off ..however it came much quicker than I anticipated and a little heart ache (no pun intended) came with it too.

 

Here I was ahead of the game this year with all my designs and ready to get all my offerings out there to everyone in record time ..and literally the day I had just finished my last design for all my new offerings .. I clicked the on button on my computer to bring it out of it's sleep mode and the thing lit up like a Christmas tree ..and that was it ..couldn't get it to do anything .. Well rather than going into a long story about all of it... the end result the Hard Drive went out on a 1 yr old computer and everything was "GONE" ... yep ..all that design work down the tubes ! ...My heart was so sick ... I spend many hours putting together designs and all the work I had just put in for over a week gone .. I hadn't yet saved it all to my memory stick .. which was completely my fault ..and lets just say "Lesson Learned."

 

Now I have learned over the years stressing out immediately is Normal .. I allow myself that momentary "Oh My Gosh" ...."Now What" moment and the frenzy of trying to fix it all in 10 seconds flat which I know is not going to happen ..but my brain always convinces me it's possible so I try and then realize ..who's hands I need to put it all into and that I just need to stop and pray even if it is a quick "Lord Please Help."   And I always try and look at the bright side .. I am blessed to have the ability to do the work over .. I am blessed that my computer was warrantied and it's being repaired for free.. I am blessed that I was able to purchase another computer in the meantime and I am blessed that I had all my other work saved and didn't lose everything ! and I am blessed to now own an external Hard drive where I can store all my work in  a secondary location ...

 

There's a lot to be thankful for when I  look at the big picture.

 

So with that experience behind me I began work once again .. and I'm pretty much caught up ..

 

I just listed my 3 new Valentine designs in our Etsy Shop this week ... As many of you know and have shared with me these make wonderful gifts.. A great way to show your "Love" ...and they also add a whole lot of Farmhouse Charm to your own Home Sweet Kitchens ..
