Happy New Year ! and some Fun Photos from "The Vintage Marketplace at the "Oaks"!

Hey Y'all .. well I can't believe it ..
Yes here we are on the brink of a New Year's just a matter of hours now before the hands on the clock wind closer to the stroke of Midnight and a whole new year is before us.
Is it just me or as you grow older do the years just seem to pass quicker ? I remember when I was a kid and in my youth I never noticed time as much as I do now .. I suppose the older we get the more we realize time is much shorter than we imagined in our youth.
I'm looking forward to a New Year .. I have a lot of hopes and dreams and goals for this coming year .. most of all I just hope to grow in the Love and Wisdom of the Lord as I know that's truly the most important thing in my life ..and then all the rest will happen as He see's fit long as I'm a willing vessel along the journey, and I am..
I pray for all of you that your New Year is filled with the Beauty of the Lord and that your lives are ever so blessed and filled with joy and goodness !
I thought I would share a little journey I took in early December with you all.. I would have loved to shared it sooner but alas time doesn't always seem to be on my side..
I've taken the last 10 days off from work and have just rested .. sitting in my easy chair watching old movies and enjoying the quiet of home and being with my family and course my sweet furry best friend Flossie.
It's time to head back to work tomorrow .. part of me is looking forward to it and well the other part doesn't feel quite through with relaxing in my easy chair and doing absolutely nothing ..but that part of me is going to have to put on her Big Girl Panties and get with it ... LOL !
Anyhoo .. in early December I was hired by Christie Repasy and Rita Reade who host "The Vintage Marketplace at the "oaks" to come and photograph the event. I was thrilled yet quite nervous to do so !  It was my first time ever photographing an event and the truth is I'm just a beginner when it comes to photography .. but I mustered up the courage and did my very best .. I'm happy to say they were happy and I get to photograph their next event in March and I hope to do an even better job as I learned a lot about what I wished I would have photographed and didn't and I have enrolled in a photography class to learn more about my camera and how to take better pictures.. So I'm looking forward to March with excitement ...
I thought I would share some of my favorite photos from the December Event .. with you all ..
So sit back and have fun and enjoy all the beautiful goodness !

The Origin of the Christmas Stocking ........

Merry Christmas Y'all .. Hope you are all having a beautiful start to your weekend ..
Abbey and I are enjoying a relaxing morning with the fireplace going after a beautiful rainy day yesterday it's a bit chilly today.
This morning I opened my daily devotion from Dr. David Jeremiah of Shadow Mountain Church .. and wanted to share it with you all.

Fireside Chats: Christmas Stockings
So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury.”
Mark 12:43

Romans 12:9-21

A poor man, father of three beautiful daughters, had no money to provide for their marriages or their futures. Hearing this, Saint Nicholas secretly put a bag of gold in the daughters’ stockings, which were hanging by the fireplace to dry overnight. Upon rising, the family was overjoyed. Ever since, children have hung up stockings on Christmas Eve in hopes of a visit from Saint Nicholas.

That’s the closest we can come to the origin of Christmas stockings. Regardless of the origin of the practice, one thing is evident: Christmas stockings can only hold small gifts. Indeed, what would fit in a child’s stocking was the extent of the earliest Christmas gifts from parents to children. And therein is the lesson: It’s the little things that matter most at Christmas. Jesus Himself revealed the true meaning of value when He commended a widow in Jerusalem for putting two pennies into the Temple treasury.
As you plan your Christmas giving this year, keep “value” in mind. Gifts wrapped in Christmas love are the most valuable of all.

Small Business Saturday ~ Support your Local and Online Small Businesses

Hey Y'all ..
Today is Small Business Saturday .. honoring small business be they brick and mortar or Online shops such as ours...
So be sure in all your Fun Shopping this weekend at all those large retail stores ..not to forget your local small businesses that work hard to bring you beautiful items that you can't find at those big box stores along with great service and big friendly smiles !

We just want to send out a big "THANK YOU" to everyone who supports our small business.
The truth is .. this is how I make my living . Most weeks I work 6 days and sometimes I have to work 7... Abbey pitches in and helps a lot . which is an absolute blessing .  My Mom is Awesome !
Running a small business isn't all fun and games's definitely not sitting around each day just having fun doing what you want ..contrary to what some may think.. No there is a schedule to be kept. Clients need questions answered or they are wanting to know when their items will arrive at their home ...or can we customize items etc. the list goes on. Then there's the book keeping which can take hours and the social media that needs updating .. then there's the work actually creating each item since we are a made to order business. Most days for me work begins the moment I roll out of bed and my feet hit the ground. There's the sewing that needs doing all day .. and the packaging of the orders once they are completed...which takes much longer than one would think... and then cleaning up after the day has come to an end.
In between all that .. there's everyday life . We still have to clean house .. make meals, run errands and keep life moving forward. I love the work I have been blessed to do and that I get a great partner to work with Mom .. but as I said it's not always fun and games .. It's a joy to be doing what I love but in the end it's a business and it's "A lot" of work to keep it running smoothly and to do a job that's well done so that I can be proud to send our products to someone and know they will enjoy and treasure it for years to come.
It astounds me when I think of the sheer amount of items we have shipped to homes in the last 4 to 5 years. And that many of them have made it overseas... to the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, UK, Slovania ..just to name a few's amazing ! And that each one of those handmade items were made right here in our home by our hands. Just thinking that something we made is being enjoyed in the homes of so many people is exciting and it makes me so Thankful, Grateful, Humbled, and Inspired to continue on this beautiful journey the Lord has blessed me with.
So once again "Thank You" .. I am so honored to have such wonderful clients that support my business it truly blesses me each and every day !
And Just a quick shout out ... that if you're needing some Sweet and Unique gifts be it for family, or friends this Christmas ..
We have a bundle of charming Farmhouse Goods for Under $20-
You'll be giving an item that is unique, handmade in the U.S.A and most of all made with Love by a Small Business !
