Giveaway at Sugar Pie Farmhouse And Valentines Day Already !!!

Well we all must admit we love the word "FREE" ..and the word "GIVEAWAY" right behind it....

 

Anything in life anymore in the everyday world that says "Free" usually always has a catch or strings attatched to it and that's such a sad thing.

 

I remember in my early years of growing up the wonderful giveaways that were offered at Gas stations, or the grocery store ... it truly kept buyers coming back and made going shopping just a bit more fun...

 

My Parents reminisce about the good old days of blue chip stamps and the set of aluminum cups they got for drinking Ice Cold Kool Aid in ... remember Kool Aid .. gosh I loved that as a kid .. however that was a very and I mean very great once and a while we got that as kids it was a treat for us ... and therefore it was all the more treasured and it made for memorable times.

 

 

I'm sure many of you can remember the "Good Ol' Days" ... when Mom and Pop ran a large portion of this country ... well there's still a few of us Mom and Pop business running today .. still offering handmade products ..and still having Truly "FREE" Giveaways.

And it's hard to believe but in just a little over a month .. we once again Embark on another of our holidays "Valentines Day" ... Seriously ..it's already here and yes I started being asked about Valentines Towels just a few days after Christmas ... You girls are so on it !

 

Well I was a bit ahead of you this year and already had my Valentines designs ready before Christmas ..Yep I was on it this year ..LOL ! Actually truth is several of the shops that I design for were giving me dates they needed there Valentines by ..so I had to be ahead of the game .. I cannot tell you as a designer how odd it is to be listening to Christmas Music ..and thinking of Snow and Hot Cocoa ..and being in the mood to design Valentines images. At that time it seemed like so long off ..however it came much quicker than I anticipated and a little heart ache (no pun intended) came with it too.

 

Here I was ahead of the game this year with all my designs and ready to get all my offerings out there to everyone in record time ..and literally the day I had just finished my last design for all my new offerings .. I clicked the on button on my computer to bring it out of it's sleep mode and the thing lit up like a Christmas tree ..and that was it ..couldn't get it to do anything .. Well rather than going into a long story about all of it... the end result the Hard Drive went out on a 1 yr old computer and everything was "GONE" ... yep ..all that design work down the tubes ! ...My heart was so sick ... I spend many hours putting together designs and all the work I had just put in for over a week gone .. I hadn't yet saved it all to my memory stick .. which was completely my fault ..and lets just say "Lesson Learned."

 

Now I have learned over the years stressing out immediately is Normal .. I allow myself that momentary "Oh My Gosh" ...."Now What" moment and the frenzy of trying to fix it all in 10 seconds flat which I know is not going to happen ..but my brain always convinces me it's possible so I try and then realize ..who's hands I need to put it all into and that I just need to stop and pray even if it is a quick "Lord Please Help."   And I always try and look at the bright side .. I am blessed to have the ability to do the work over .. I am blessed that my computer was warrantied and it's being repaired for free.. I am blessed that I was able to purchase another computer in the meantime and I am blessed that I had all my other work saved and didn't lose everything ! and I am blessed to now own an external Hard drive where I can store all my work in  a secondary location ...

 

There's a lot to be thankful for when I  look at the big picture.

 

So with that experience behind me I began work once again .. and I'm pretty much caught up ..

 

I just listed my 3 new Valentine designs in our Etsy Shop this week ... As many of you know and have shared with me these make wonderful gifts.. A great way to show your "Love" ...and they also add a whole lot of Farmhouse Charm to your own Home Sweet Kitchens ..

Each New year has it's Seasons and it's purposes ...and we enter into 2013 ready to spread our wings and fly ..

Happy New Year to all of our dear Friends, Family and Followers !!! A new Season of life with it's many purposes are once again before us as we start a fresh New Year and enter into it with thanksgiving.

2012 was an overall Good Year for us or should I say an excellent year for us ..full of Gods amazing Grace and Abounding Blessing which we are so very Thankful for. It had it's many ups and it's downs and through it all he never left our sides.

And now that we have entered 2013 I expect no less .. that Gods Grace shall cover us and his blessings and favor be upon us as we endeavor to live each day for him and use the gifts that he has bestowed on us for his Glory, through the good times and the bad times just as the years behind us.

New Years are always a bit odd for me.. as everyone talks of the new year and the goals they are setting be it lose weight or save money or take a vacation etc .. my thoughts always return to earlier days of my life when I learned through tough times that Gods infinite wisdom was far wiser to follow than my own and more truth was in it than my own thoughts or plans ...

 

 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

Matthew 6:25

I have learned over the years to take each day as it comes one at a time...Although in all truth my habit of many years still rears it's ugly head to return to days gone by when I worried about the future constantly .. rather it be tomorrow or next week or even 20 years from now I fretted over what would be ... I still at times get fixated on the future and then I tap myself on the shoulder and remind myself that the road ahead can and will be determined by today .. the choices I make today ..the wisdom I grow in today and the life I live today. Of course there are choices and things we are faced with that require us to think ahead ..that's a natural course of life ..but I believe that living for today just means we are not fixated on the future.

Living for today means we take what comes today ... but it doesn't mean we don't dream and hope and pray for the days that hopefully we are blessed with to come.

This year my dream like so many other's before it ..is to go home ..

No not my heavenly home .. ..but "home" a place I dream of beyond what I call home now. Our home now is not our own ..it's a stopping off ground that we stopped at a lot longer than we ever planned but the Lord has had his reasons and even though it's not the home we would choose to live in or the place we would like to live ..the Lord has blessed us while we have been here. But my dream for a home in the country ... a little house on a hill.. looking over a beautiful spread of land.. Where the crickets can be heard because they haven't been killed by mass extermination .. where the grass grows 3 inches overnight when it rains .. and the wind whispers in your ears like a beautiful country symphony because it hasn't been drowned out by the constant roar of a freeway... Where howdy is a friendly hello ..and neighbors really care for neighbors .. These are just a few of the things I dream for .. and of course I just have to have an old wood porch .. I already have the rocker that goes on it.

So for 2013 Our Dream here at the Farmhouse is for a New Home Sweet Home...

We will still live today for today .. not worrying about tomorrow .. But we will fill our life with the dreams that the Lord can create for us on this journey called Life.

My Sweet Friend Sandra of "Thistle Cove Farm" ..is an amazing Woman. I know it's because of her true dedication to the Lord ... I visit her blog often but not as often as I would like but when I do my soul is uplifted or put to great thought by the wisdom she shares that has come with time, age and experiences that have shaped her life. Sandra has 2 Beautiful Posts on the New Year .. and honestly ..her words read like a good book that you don't want to put down .. they are uplifting and encouraging and may I say so wise ... her first post Titled PDS "Pretty Darn Smart" Pt.1 can be viewed HERE .... We're back ..from ...The Vintage Marketplace at the Oaks

 

Yes We are Back from the Vintage Marketplace at the Oaks this last weekend .."Friday & Saturday"..

 

In the last 3 years of setting up at the Market we have faced the Extreme Heat .. the Wind and a bit of cold but we never had to face a rainy day or more than that several rainy days. The Market has always been Rain or Shine ..but We have always been so blessed and it's always weighed out on the side of "Shine" So we weren't sure what to expect for a turnout on Friday Morning.

 

We all set up and prepped for the rain and hoped and hoped we would have a good turnout despite the rain ..and we weren't dissapointed !!!

 

Friday Morning opened with a wonderful suprise we had an amazing turnout .. it drizzled ..it sprinkled.. it even poured down rain a few times and steadily rained throughout friday and it was a bit damp to say the least ..but I must admit it really put you in the mood for Christmas in comparison to many of our years being 80 degrees and sunny and trying to decide on buying a snowman or not ..LOL !!!

 

To all who came out and braved the wet and kicked your heels up in the puddles and dawned your hoodies and carried your Brellas .. "Thank You" .. We really put alot of work and heart for many weeks before each market preparing a wonderful experience for all of our sweet shoppers and we are thrilled you came out and supported us once again !

 

So for those of you far away who couldn't make it or for those of you who just couldn't make it ..here's a little peek at what you all missed ...

 

 

 

We set up our Christmas Shop once again this year .. And we had a few more colorful things that would have been displayed out front but the rain would have ruined them ..so our 5ft Wood trees had to do the job all on their own ..

 

 Thank Goodness we had my Sis's Tent ..and we set up a second tent to sit under and allow for our cashier area to remain dry... The Tents overlapped just enough that you could walk through from one to the other .. keeping everyone dry ...

 

 The table was decked out with Wonderful Vintage Goods along with our Handmade Christmas Goods ..and trimmed with a wonderful Jingle Bell Ribbon...

 Abbey and I love Old Christmas Bells ..and this set that hung above the table is from our personal collection ..they weren't for sale just purely for decoration ..we found them a year ago at a wonderful Barn Sale ..they date to the 1950's - 60's and are paper Mache with their orginal glitter .. Abbey Topped them with some of our wonderful poinsettias and they looked just stunning hung over the center table ...

 Our Glass Glittered Roses were once again a hit ..and an abundance of them headed off to a Winter Wedding ....

 Our Vintage Lace Ornaments ..Made their way home to lots of Christmas Trees.. Wreaths ..and Mantles ..bringing Much Christmas Cheer ...

 

 The Crates were filled with Christmas Towels and Aprons ..and By Saturday afternoon ..they were all gone ...



 

Once Again and despite the wet weather .. the Marketplace was an absolute success for not only us but all the other shops as well...

 

It was such a joy to see all of the familiar faces we know from each market and to meet new faces too !

 

Thank you to all the Ladies that came by Bus to shop .. and those that made lengthy trips from out of state !

 

And Thank you again to Christie, Rita, Dean, And the boys for all you do to keep the market going and running smoothly ... !!!
