Custom Farm ~ Brella ... A Sweet Magnolias Farm Original

Well I hope this post finds you all having a beautiful "almost fall" day .. we are on the official countdown to the first day of fall .. and we are nipping at it's heels .... I just wish the weather would cooperate here in our neck of the woods.

It's been exceedingly Hot here for the last week and half 100's + ... and I'm feeling it.... Yesterday it was well over 100 again but the reprieve was we got a little stormy weather .. the thunder clouds piled up the lighting and thunder arrived and a little bit of rain.. nothing much to add to our drought ridden land though .. .. there's only so long a person can handle that many days of constant heat before you begin to get a little irritable yesterday was that day for me..but this morning I'm feeling better.  I've tried staying indoors and pretty much have managed to do so ...but I'm definitely ready for some cool weather so we can throw open the doors and windows and let some refreshing breezes blow in .. it looks like we just may get a few cooler days starting tomorrow and I'm thrilled about that.

Yesterday I completed a custom Order for one of our Farm ~ Brella's ... it turned out really charming and I had to share some pictures .. these are always a one of a kind item I make so if I don't get photos you can just forget me remembering what they looked like or having the option to share ideas with clients wanting to purchase one ... ....

The combination of floral check and burlap fabrics look so beautiful together .. and I love the "Farm Fresh Truck" Design that we added to the burlap sections which was requested by the client ..

This will make the most charming display piece ..

When I am asked to make one our Farm ~ Brella's ..I always have to set aside a good amount of time to work on one .. It truly is a work of the heart .. Getting everything just the right size .. and to fit the skeleton of the umbrella frame is always a little challenging.. a good amount of hand sewing goes into these so they are very time consuming  ( we make each one from a vintage umbrella frame ) .. but in the end it's always worth the extra effort ..because I love how they turn out ..

This Farmbrella we made for "The Farmer's Wife" in Temecula Ca .. in 2012 ..
It looked absolutely lovely with her dishes she was offering at that time ..

Wishing you all a Day full of Joy !

Back to Work and a little Red, White and Blue

Hey Y'all .. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Spring. It feels more like an early Summer here ... we are set to hit the triple digits tomorrow and from a gal who greatly dislikes the heat ..I'm so thankful for our new Window AC in the living area ..!

Last time I posted I was ready to roll on blogging again .. well that changed in a heartbeat and now it's been a month since my last post. About that time the family member I had mentioned that had been terminally ill, passed away .. and I think that was just the last straw for me. My mind and body just quit one day and I had a complete meltdown mixed with total exhaustion and decided the best course of action was to shut the shop down and take some time off to get my mind and energy back.

In all the goings and comings and ups and downs of the last year I had stopped taking my supplements, my diet had waned greatly, and my weight went up .. so I took control back and I must say after 3 weeks of staying on target I am feeling better. I wouldn't say top notch just yet ..but on my way. So Monday we re-opened the shop again and we'll see how things go from here.

***********

It seems like the year is already flying by ... seriously the older one gets it seems like the day's just fly by ... or maybe it's just me ? ? ?  I can't believe Mother's Day is already come and gone .. BTW ... "Happy Mother's Day" to all you moms of Little Kids, Big Kids, and Fur Kids !

Now...

Many Thanks To Rita And Christie of The Vintage Marketplace at the Oaks

Well it's been a whirlwind of a last month .. but it's been a good whirlwind !

Last month about 3 weeks before the Market we had to call Rita and Christie and graciously cancel being there ..which was really hard to do. I'm one of those people that once I make a commitment I don't like to break it. But this was a situation that just couldn't be helped.

Well a few days later Rita came up with an idea for us to be able to come and sell at the market ..
They have a vintage truck at the entrance for a cute display ..and she thought that us selling out of the truck would make it easier on us so we didn't have the huge 2 tent setup we normally do. I immediately took her up on it .. they were trying to meet us halfway to get us there and I most definitely wanted to meet them halfway to get there.

So it all worked out .. I ended up going on my own .. and setting up  and selling which worked out beautifully.

Oh my heavens was it ever a hot hot weekend in the high 90's and 100's and being near that black asphalt was no dream ..but hey I was just thankful to be there. So on Friday in the afternoon when it got way too hot ..Should I say Sweltering ! ... I got a bag of Ice and plopped it into the plastic tub my merchandise bags were in ."yes I took the bags out" .. and put my feet down in all that ice ... and  within minutes I was feeling so much better. Saturday Proved to be another day of icing the feet ..and my mini foot pool caught on with some of the other sellers ..galvanized pans were being bought and sold from seller to seller for mini foot pools .. LOL !

Thank You To Rita and Christie for offering up a way to sell at the Market ! ...I had the best time and really enjoyed setting up in the Vintage Truck !

Thanks to Dean and Sylvia and Rita and Christie and everyone else who came and checked on me periodically for food and water .. you were all such a blessing !

And A big Thanks to everyone who came out in the "Sweltering" heat and once again shopped and supported all the small business that makes up "The Vintage Marketplace" ... I cannot tell you all how much it means not only to myself but each seller out there to have you all come !

So for those of you who live to far off or who couldn't make it to this market .. Here's picts of our setup in the Vintage Truck  next to the entrance of the Market ..

Sweet Magnolias Farm is Back from "The Vintage Marketplace" with lots of picts to share !

Well it's been several weeks since I have been able to blog and I sure have missed being in the Kitchen sharing recipes on Sunday with you all and can't wait to get back in the swing of things next week were blogging is concerned...

As for "The Vintage Marketplace" this last weekend ..once again it was an absolute joy to sell at and another fun weekend filled with laughter and Smiles !

Abbey and I worked on some slim time getting ready for this market we literally had 3 weeks to prepare every last thing which really isn't much time at all ...but we managed to get a lot done by working 10 and 12 hour days and we were thrilled with the end result and we hope all those who came out enjoyed our shop and that those of you who couldn't make it ...enjoy are pictures we are sharing with you here on the blog !

This Marketplace was a Spring Garden Theme ..so Abbey and I decided to participate by creating our own rustic Garden Shed ... to house all of our Farm Goods ...

Out of all of our Shops we have created I think this one tops the list for me ..I really loved how it came out...

Once again to all those who came out and supported the Market and all of us whom are small business owners we "Thank You" from the bottom of our hearts !

It takes an immense amount of work to run a small business ... and you really have to have your whole heart in it to make it even the smallest success because it truly becomes your life 24 hours a day from the time you wake till the time your head hits the pillow ..so when we have a wonderful turnout as we did once again at this market and sent home many of our vintage finds and our handmades it really makes our heart smile that the super duper hard work we have put in is every bit worth all the effort and long long days !

Also thanks again to Rita, Christie, Dean, Allen, Rafael, A.J. and all those who helped to get us set up and make the market a success. Without all there time and effort and endless hours dedicated to finding awesome sellers,  advertising, phone calls, e-mails and everything else they do to pull this market off ..we are ever so grateful !

AND ...

Now for all the pictures we took to share with all of our  Blogging Friends ...

ENJOY !
