Monday a New Beginning...

Good Monday Morning to Everyone !

 

What a beautiful Yet typical overcast or as I heard it being referred to growing up as "June Gloom" day we are having. I personally don't see it as Gloom. Here in Sunny CA.. we have just that sunny days pretty much every day of the year. For me I enjoy an overcast day, or even a rainy day when they come along. I Suppose too much of anything can get to be well too much and it's nice to have a change ..

 

This weekend I did something I haven't done in a long time and took 3 days off Friday ~ Sunday.

 

It's always a little nerve wracking to do so because that means I get behind in my work and I'm not one that likes to do that. But it's been so long since I have had any consecutive days off and really only about 3 days in the last few months that it had become a much needed thing.

 

Friday as you know I visited The Vintage Marketplace which was so fun, Saturday I loafed around the house and watched the series " Lark Rise to Candleford" ..Or I should say watched part of the series it's a long one. If you haven't seen Lark Rise to Candleford ..be sure to look for it online for purchase. It's an English series set in the late 1800's about a tiny town and an outerlying hamlet .. tow being were the middle class and wealthy live and the hamlet the poor .. The story revolves around a post office mistress in the town of Candleford and the interactions of the folks from the hamlet .. it's a delightful series and a "Family" friendly series as well.

 

 

And Yesterday .. well it was a very unplanned day. Abbey and I had talked Saturday night about heading to a flea market Sunday morning but we talked ourselves out of it due to the heat which Abbey doesn't handle well .. By Sunday morning as I rolled out of bed Abbey was up bright and early and the weather for the area the flea market was located had changed drastically and would be overcast so we headed out last minute and spent the day shopping the flea market. We found a few things overall though not as many as we had hoped for. But it really wasn't all about the buying but more about just having a fun day out !.

 

So now that it's Monday it's time to get back in to the swing of things ..and play a little catch up on orders and enjoy this beautiful day the Lord has given us once again !

A Fun Day at "The Vintage Marketplace at the Oaks"

 

Yesterday I got to go and have a bit of fun at "The Vintage Marketplace at the Oaks"

 

Since Abbey and I didn't set up to sell at this market for the 1st time since it began 4 years ago .. it was a great opportunity to go and shop which I never get to do when we are set up and selling.

 

And I got to see the market with all new eyes and a whole new perspective as the buyer and not the seller.

 

I arrived about a half hour before they opened the entrance ..and a long line had already started to form .. by the time it opened I think it was all the way up to the top of the drive way in the photo below ...

 

 

 

My first few hours were spent shopping all the spaces and catching up with friends who were selling. Everyone's spaces were absolutely beautiful and had so many wonderful items they were offering that I truly wanted to take a truckload of them home but alas the pocket book just didn't reach that deep ..and of course I had to leave plenty for all the other shoppers ..LOL !

 

While I was shopping two of our dear Friends that we know from selling at Treasures N Junk antique Mall "Tammy and Helen" (Daughter and Mom) Surprised me by coming to the market. The three of us had such a great time Laughing and telling stories about the goofy things husbands, and dad's do .. and then having a Great Breakfast at the Oaks Restaurant together. Tammy and Helen are truly a delight to be around. If you get over to Treasures N Junk antique mall in Ontario, CA.. be sure to stop in and ask to shop their spaces you won't be disappointed !.

 

After shopping and Lunch ...

 

I spent an hour chatting with Christie Repasy in her beautiful rendition of the French Flea theme that the market had this time.

 

 

Christie always makes things "Beautiful" ...

 

Her shop was fillled and I'm sure still has this morning some simply beautiful Art work that so many shoppers are going to absolutely adore and want to take home.

 

 

 

Across from Christie ...was Dragonfly Dreams .. She sells the most exquisite and charming clothing made from vintage and salvaged clothing and linens. She has some of the most unique designs she definitely has an amazing talent and gift for creating true "One of a Kind" piece of art to wear !



 

 

 

One of the New comers to this Market was the "Rustic Urban Company"

 

I Found more than half of what I purchased in their shop .. they had a really great selection of Country ~ Farmhouse ~ Rustic ~ and Vintage Goodness !

 

I spent the better part of the morning and afternoon at the market .. and enjoyed it so much. It was such a treat to be on the shopping end of the market.

 

Selling at the market is truly a fun thing .. for the 4 years we have been involved every market has been a joy and a blessing.  But I can't tell you how much and how hard the work is to sell at a market like this one. The months of preparation to design, prepare and make product, ~ the long hours it takes to design your layout of your space ..because honestly your erecting a small store in 1 day and you want it to look great and be appealing to shoppers .. all the beauty these sellers create just doesn't happen ..it takes days upon weeks to get ready and the majority of us leave one market and begin working on the next market the very following week. 3 months just isn't a lot of time in the big picture of life to pour your heart and soul into pulling all your handmade product ..finding all you vintage product ..and loading, unloading setting up , selling and tearing down to come home and unload and then start all over again. Each of these sellers earns every and I mean every "Penny" they make.

 

If your local or live in So Cal , Nevada, or even Arizona .. the Market will go through tomorrow Sunday June 2nd until 2 p.m. .. So don't miss out and go enjoy the market .. afterward .. their is Old Town Temecula to peruse .. lots of great shops and restaurants to enjoy !

Thank You is not enough .. Memorial Day

 

 

Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving our Country.

Here at the Farmhouse .. "Thank You" just doesn't seem to be enough. It seems such a little thing in the big scheme of what the men and women of our nation that have given their lives in order to secure our Freedoms and the Freedoms of others have done throughout the generations.

We are so Very Thankful however. It takes an immensely brave person and selfless person to put on a uniform and decide that they are willing to give up their life in order to give 100's of 1000's of people "Freedom"

As a nation I think it's our duty to continue as civilians to fight in the behalf of those who have lost their lives to keep this country "Free" or all they gave for us is meaningless and futile which would be an absolute shame.

And

We give thanks to the Families who have lost their loved ones serving our Country.

Your road has not been an easy one we are certain ..but we can tell you we are ever so grateful for the sacrifice they chose to give in order to keep us free.

This weekend we "HONOR" .. our Fallen Heroes here at the Farmhouse !

Free Printable ~ Antique Aster Seed Packet

 

Happy Friday to everyone ..

 

I'm sure many of you are gearing up for a wonderful Memorial day weekend .. with Family, Friends, maybe the first BBQ of the Season ...

 

I thought I would share another beautiful seed packet this week .. since we are still in spring and summer even though it feels as though it's arrived in many parts of the country isn't officially here.

 

This Beautiful Aster Packet is another from our sweet collection ..

 

I love how they made the packets of yesteryear so appealing and beautiful. Today's seed packets or I should say the one's I have seen at the local hardware store are just not appealing. I can imagine if they actually put some gorgeous picts or graphics on today's seed packets .. us Gals would gobble them up like candy not just for the seed but for the collecting. It would be awesome if one of the seed companies like the "Ball Anniversary Jars" .. would come out with a remember when collection or something to that effect.
