I don't know about you ..but Christmas is my ultimate favorite time of year ..for a # of reasons ... I love the generally cooler and sometimes cold weather ..I love the Giving ...I love Love the decorating ..and I love that it's our Sweet Jesus Birthday ..just to name a few ...

Abbey and I have been trying to get in gear ..and get our Christmas offerings ready ..which has been a bit of a challenge ..seems like once you get behind in your schedule it's really hard to get caught back up ..but we are sure working hard to do so.

We had a wonderful e-mail from a gal that purchased some of our Hand Fashioned "Old Fashioned" paper mache ornaments last year wanting to know if we were offering them again this year ...? and the answer to that question was a most definite YES !!! ...

Our Paper Mache Snow Bells ...Hand Sculpted ..Hand Painted Holly and Berries and embellished with old fashioned snow glitter and a mercury Glass Bead.... will once again be available this year ...

Vintage Inspiration Friday !!! A Marriage Made in Heaven

This is my First time to participate in Vintage Inspiration Friday ..Hosted by Debra over at Common Ground ..

Debra is the sweetest Gal ..and it's been a pleasure meeting her here in blogland ..not to mention she lives in a place that has a big piece of my heart ..Missouri ...! We used to live there ..and we always consider it home ..and we're hoping to get back there again one day.

So for my Vintage Inspiration Friday post ....I thought I would share a Marriage made in Heaven

In my last few posts I mentioned that fabulous 9 week estate sale that Abbey and I were able to attend ...well there were some wonderful finds we came home with ..Many of them though being projects . Things we had vision for and knew we wouldn't happen on them again so we had to grab them while we could and tuck them away for that perfect moment we knew what it would become.

Well this fabulous Silver Plate "Hot Plate" Base was in buried treasure in a box at one of the sales ... One handle was missing ..and of course the top ... But I loved the lines of this piece ..loved the patina ..and had an Inspiration for it to become a Cake Plate Base. All I would need to find would be a Beautiful Glass Top. Which I figured we would eventually hit upon.

However ....My Idea took a bit of a turn ..

While we were moving into our 2 shops over at Treasures and Junk ...across from our second space we spied and absolute treasure ...But upon seeing the price I decided to give it some thought ....

At the moment I hadn't thought of the marriage ..and it wasn't actually until we made another trip to the shop that the marriage idea popped into my wee little brain ...and I was elated ...now I had the perfect reason for purchasing my sweet treasure if it was only still there ...

It was there ...now the only thing was ..would they fit ..I didn't have the measurements to know ..?? But I eyed it and thought they would Marry Beautifully ..and to my delight when we arrived home ..

It was a Marriage Made In Heaven !!!

..

This Gorgeous Dome ..is not a new one ..but an antique One ..The glass on it is so thick ..not like the thin ones today ..and this picture doesn't accurately depict the size of this dome ..and that's one big reason I loved it ..

It stands Over 2 ft. in height ...that is just the Dome ...not the base !

The base and the dome were truly meant for one another ...I'm so glad I was inspired by the base to bring it home ...

The Funny thing about the marriage of these 2 pieces ..is Abbey and I started collecting for Christmas ..Dome Pieces. It all started about 4 yrs ago ..when we went to of all places Wal-Mart ...and they had the old style Christmas Houses in large Glass Domes. We bought the set of 3 that year and every year since we have added pieces that have domes with Beautiful scenes inside...

These are the 3 domes we got that year at Wal-Mart ...Hard to believe Hah !!! and I think they were only $9.99 a piece if I remember correctly ...

So ....My Inspired vision now is not a house but a tall Bottle Brush Style tree inside ..decorated very vintage ...I'm not exactly sure how it will come out ...I like things to come to life as I create them ..

So this Marriage Made in Heaven now will be a work in progress ..to add to our Dome collection ...

It's always fun to be inspired by vintage Pieces ..to see them as something they were not meant to be ..to re-create them to upcycle and recycle them into a new use today.

Are you familiar with the Vintage curtains of the 30's and 40's ..those cute Cottage style ones ..made from that cotton gauzy material with cute prints such as geraniums and tulips ..? Well if you are you'll know exactly what this fabric is like ..that yummy cotton gauze ..light and airy and ever so sweet ...I couldn't believe it was new/old store stock we found and in Perfect condition .. !

This sweet cotton floral is a Beautiful Lightweight Cotton Print ...Sweet as the Springtime air !

A Wonderful remnant of Barkcloth ... perfect for a few pillows ..a tote ..or something special !

Lastly this charming cotton print calico ..a wonderful vintage piece I've named Autumn Rose ..

Vintage 50's and 60's Novelty Fabrics ...

As Many of you who follow our blog have read about in earlier posts ....

Abbey and I were priveledged to attend an estate sale nearby that lasted about 9 weeks . It offered up some wonderful vintage finds from a thrift store that was once in business and helped needy teens. About 20 years ago the owners passed on and it was closed and has been in limbo ever since ..finally it came time for them to liquidate everything that had been left from all those years ago ..and boy was there alot and boy was it ever dirty and stinky. !! Along with the thrift store itself which was massive ..an old bus barn that housed two buses years ago was used as storage and had been filled end to end with thrift store donations that hadn't been touched in over 30 years ..

Needless to say Abbey and I tried to make it to each sale ..and boy did we find some fun vintage finds ..In those finds we came by some wonderful vintage novelty fabrics ...which we of course washed and cleaned so they are nice and fresh and have just listed 4 of them on Etsy ..

These pieces are fabulous for making vintage aprons, pillows, curtains, and so much more !!!

Flex your Political Muscle !!!

Today is it ....If you haven't Voted Early ...then get out and get to your local polling place today and cast your vote !!!

Voting is a Right and a Privledge that our forefathers fought for us ..Men and Women alike !

We can have every excuse in the book not to vote ..that we are disullisioned, dissapointed, that our vote won't make a difference, that there's not a person we like or think is qualified ..etc. etc. ...However the reality is this ... All your thoughts might be accurate and valid ...But the real truth of the matter is .....you have a duty to your country to vote for the Man or Woman that is best qualified Morally first of all and foremost for the job ..Finding out the issues they do and don't support will give you the Moral ground they stand on ! Their may be some issues you don't agree with in candidates of any party ...But in the end there should be one that we come to a decision on that best represents what we believe in as an individual and will benefit the country and our fellow citizens and our future.

Take the time to Vote today ..And pay tribute to our Freedom that was fought for and won by our forefathers ....Flex your Political Muscle and and use the Right you have to make a difference ..!!! If we all thought our one vote wouldn't count ..then where would our country be .. ??? On the Road to Socialism .. ...where our choices are made for us ... On the Road to ..Communism ...where we have NO choice at all ..When we stop caring as individuals ...we have given up our freedoms ... and we have spit in the face of our forefathers that founded a Country Based on GOD ..MORALITY...FREEDOM AND EQUALITY !!!

Your Vote Counts .....Even if it doesn't put the candidate you have chosen in office ..Because you used your Freedom ..your Right and have stepped out and kept America's Democracy Moving into the future !
